Famous actors are primarily skilled at conveying and channeling emotion, but at the same time they are pampered and have no legitimate life experience. So you get these sort of rootless, melodramatic attempts to empathize with the rest of the country. This is to real emotion what a five year old boy trying on Daddy's suit and tie is to said Dad going to work.

These people are lost. We should not hold them up for ridicule, we should only pity them, and watch enough movies that their lives don't spiral out of control.

The most offensive thing about this video is not these wayward celebrities pledging "this and that" but that there are plenty of people who live their entire lives being generous, unselfish, and honorable regardless of which president has been in office. It is almost as if being a decent human just started yesterday and Obama his voters all of a sudden have a monopoly over it.

The left will probably be disillusioned by Obama's failure to do good-government magic by then. If the lovefest is just as strong in three months, *then* it may be time to head for the hills.

I'll leave it up to the sociologists to say WHY that's the case right now (the absence of religion, the coldness of technology, the disconnect of cyber life, whatever whatever), but regardless of the catalyst, it is what's going on.

And they're not going to just let that go. This thing fuels these people. It is their existence. There's too much psychic energy bound up now in the whole deal to allow some sense of deflation. I find it funny that people in the comments are freaking out about celebrities being stupid. The commercial is creepy, sure, but it's pretty meaningless; as people have said, it's just the Hollywood set trying to find some sort of relevance beyond acting in films (and a couple sports and music figures to boot). The only difference here is that they're being patronizing when someone who they supported is president, rather than before when they were patronizing in spite of someone they did not support being president. All the "head for the hills" comments are ridiculous. This is hardly anything new. George Bush was all but canonized by conservative media in all its forms; why do you expect any different from liberal media with Obama?

The problem of the message is not the words or the act that they are pledging to do. It is the reasoning behind it. The truth is, this message is about a man, a man who is misleading our great nation. There are to many people out there just going along with life and have no clue as to what is going on because of the media and the slobbering love affair that is happening.
