Not Voting for Bailout = Nihilism?

by Will Wilkinson on October 1, 2008

Gene Healy justly ribs David Brooks for accusing Congressional opponents of the bailout of believing in… nothing. That’s just beyond weird.

  • Don Arthur's right. I get it now!

FYI, the Strauss method seemed to work better, but that might be due to recency effects.

There's a trick to deciphering this Brooks column.

Step 1. Go to your bookshelf and get out your copy of Irving Kristol's Neoconservatism: The Autobiography of an idea.

Step 2. Turn to page 92.

Step 3. Holding the open book in your hands, gently lick the pages while re-reading Brooks' column.

If that doesn't work, try sitting on a copy of Leo Strauss' An Introduction to Political Philosophy and return to Step 1.

Love the new look. Much improved. Actually readable type now. A little NY Times-y tho'.
  • As I mentioned over at DeLong's blog, I'm pretty sure Brooks' very existence is proof of nihilism.
